An Overview.
The Hub is an inclusive space for all students at Vancouver Island University. It is our mission to make the Hub an open space where all students from diverse backgrounds feel welcomed and where students have the opportunity to create, attend and host events throughout the year. The Hub consists of the following spaces: The Think Tank, The Lounge, The Studio, and The Patio. This is also the space where students can learn more about the available engaging opportunities on and off-campus.

The HUB is a central student space that aims to connect students from varying academic disciplines through co-curricular experiences in projects including but not limited to activities connected to Fun@VIU, Student Leadership Circle, RockVIU, and Vancouver Island Leadership Conference. Students are encouraged to engage with co-curricular activities that help to capture relevant skills and VIU Graduate Attributes.
The HUB offers numerous opportunities for students to get involved on and off-campus and there are many positions of leadership available. With such opportunities, students are granted more access towards discovering their self-potential and journey as a reflective learner.
Think Tank
The Think Tank space is available to student work-ops that are building projects related to the Co-Curricular Record. These spots are mainly for students who want a quiet space to work and must be connected to a CCR activity. The Think Tank can be booked for after-hours from 5 to 10 pm using SetMore.
The Lounge
The Lounge is a more relaxed space and can be used for group meetings or individual study sessions. Students can book the space for an hour and extend the slots based on availability. When event bookings take place, the Hub team will adjust the availability of the space to reflect the event booking.
Patio
The patio is open year-round, but availability is dependent on the weather. This space is ideal for socials (such as BBQ nights or Graduate Student Mixer). Students hosting events at this location will be provided Patio Rules to ensure the appropriate maintenance and cleanliness of the space, once the event has occurred.
